Rafa dominates the hard-court season after another victory at US Open against Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil in 3 sets: 6-2, 6-1, 6-0.

After the match, Rafa said: “I think I finished the match playing well, doing a few things well, moving better. The important thing at the end is winning 6‑2, 6‑1, 6‑0. The result says that I did the right things.”

Nadal is thrilled to be back at the US Open after missing the tournament last year. “It's true that in New York the nighttime sessions are special. The show, the music, the crowd is a little bit more like showtime during the evening. I love the crowd in New York. I feel great every time that I have the chance to play in Arthur Ashe Stadium, even if is day or night. Today I have the chance to play night session after three years. That's an amazing feeling.”

In 3rd Round, Rafa will play against Ivan Dodig of Croatia. On head to head, the score is tied at 1. Their last match was in 2011 at Rogers Cup in Montreal, where Dodig won in 3 sets: 1-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Rafa wins in opener

Rafa defeated Ryan Harrison of United States in 3 sets: 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 after 2 hours and 6 minutes of play.

He has now a 16-0 record on hard this season and he is looking to win both Masters 1000 and the US Open since Andy Roddyck in 2003.

After the 1st Round match, Rafa said: "Always the first round is not easy. The conditions out there today were difficult, so happy to be through. Win in straight sets, so is a good start for me.
For me the chance to be back here playing, I have a chance to compete this year, is great. I am enjoying the week before practising. Today [was] the first match after two years in Arthur Ashe, so it's a great feeling."

The draw for US Open 2013 has been released and Rafa will play in 1st Round against Ryan Harrison of United States.

After winning Rogers Cup and Cincinnati,  Rafa is now No.2 in ATP Rankings.

Rafa won for the first time the Western & Southern Open trophy after he defeated John Isner of United States in straight sets: 7-6, 7-6 after one hour and 56 minutes of play.

This was the 26th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and 59th overall for Rafa ! Congratulations !!!

After the final, Rafa said: "It means a lot winning two straight titles on hard courts. It's just amazing for me. I never did something like this in my career. So, it is an emotional moment."

The next tournament in Rafa`s schedule is US Open. The tournament begins on August 26th.

Rafa will play in the Cincinnati final after he defeated Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic in straight sets: 7-5, 7-6.

After the semifinal, Rafa said: "I finished the match playing aggressive with the forehand, with the backhand, and it's great. I think I played a very good match this afternoon against a very difficult opponent who came to this match playing very well, and I have to be very, very happy about everything."

In Western & Southern Open final, Rafa will play against John Isner of United States. On head to head, Rafa leads Isner: 3-0. Their last match was in 2011 at Roland Garros, where Rafa won in 5 sets: 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Rafa defeated Roger Federer in 3 sets: 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 at Western & Southern Open after 2 hours and 13 minutes of play and he is now in semifinals.

After the match against Roger, Rafa said:  "I think my movement starts to be better, more intensity. I started to put more balls inside on the return, and I started to have more times control of the ball from the baseline with my forehand, something that didn't happen the first set and a half...But the match was there. It was very close. He had a good chance in the second. I think I played a good few points in important moments."

In Cincinnati semifinal, Rafa will play against Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic. On head to head, Rafa leads Berdych: 14-3. Their last match was this year in Rome semifinal, where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-2, 6-4.

Ready for El Clasico ?

Another tough match for Rafa against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. Rafa defeated the bulgarian player in 3 sets: 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 after 2 hours and 2 minutes of play.

After the match, Rafa said: "I played a good level in the first set.  Then his serve was working well in the beginning of the second.  I was having trouble, so just wait for my moment. I started the third set trying to go another time inside the court and trying to have the control of the point from there, and I think I played a good third set in general."

After this important victory, Rafa is in quarterfinals in Cincinnati where he will play against Roger Federer.

About the match against Federer, Rafa said:  "We played so many times for very important things. That makes every match very special. The combination of styles makes the matches very interesting. I hope to be ready for that."

On head to to head, Rafa leads Federer: 20-10. Their last match was this year in Rome final where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-3.

One hour and 16 minutes needed Rafa to win the 2nd round match against Benjamin Becker of Germany in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2.

After the match, Rafa said: "When you change cities, change a little bit of weather, the feelings on the ball is different. The speed of the court is not exactly the same. It's a little bit slower here than in Montreal. And when you have these kind of tournaments back to back it's not easy, but I'm very happy with the way I played this afternoon and the way that I adapted the game."

In 3rd round, Rafa will play against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. On head to head, Rafa leads Dimitrov: 2-0. Their last match was this year in Monte-Carlo, where Rafa won in 3 sets: 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Rafa defeated Milos Raonic of Canada in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 and he won the Rogers Cup after only one hour and 9 minutes of play.

After the final, Rafa said: "To win here, I have to be playing my top level. Very happy the way that I played almost every match in this tournament. Is very important for me, this title. Just very happy for everything."

"I did a lot of things well. My return was huge this afternoon. I returned a few first serves of his in important moments, decisive. Then I think he play with more mistakes than usual. That helped me."

After this performance Rafa advanced one place in the ATP Rankings and he is now on the 3rd place.

About reaching to No.1 he said: "We have to realise how many points I have to win to be No. 1. I think I will not be No. 1 if I have less than 10,000 points at the end of the season. Today I have 8,000. I need to win minimum 2,000 more. That's very difficult in this part of the season, but I'm going to try."

Rafa defeated Novak Djokovic in Rogers Cup semifinal in 3 sets: 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 after 2 hours and 31 minutes of play.

After the semifinal, Rafa said: "I said yesterday the only chance to win aainst Novak, the only tactic is to play very well. To play very well I have to play agressive. If not, I cannot play very well on this kind of surface. And I did. I played a very high level tonight, I think. I played with the right decisions in the important moments. Yes, the serve worked well during the whole night. And the shots from the baseline, I tried to stay wery close to the baseline, go inside when I hade the chance."

“I started this important part of the season with a big result for me." "To be in the final is amazing. To be in a final of a Masters 1000 is amazing for me. Especially beating the best player of the world, Novak, tonight, it is a big result for me. Very happy for that. Tomorrow is an important match. For me, to win another Masters 1000 is a big illusion. But I know that anything can happen. If I lose tomorrow I will be very happy the way that I played and the result that I had this week.”

In Rogers Cup final, Rafa will play against Milos Raonic of Canada. On head to head, Rafa leads Raonic: 3-0. Their last match was this year in Barcelona where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-4, 6-0.

Another victory for Rafa at Rogers Cup after he defeated Marinko Matosevic of Australia in straight sets: 6-2, 6-4 after one hour and 20 minutes of play and he is now in semifinals.

After the match, Rafa said: "I think I played well. I played a positive match. To win 6-2, 6-4 against a tough opponent, it`s impossible to play bad.. I`m happy with the way I played. To start the hard court season like this with semifinals is a great start."

In semifinals, Rafa will play against Novak Djokovic of Serbia. On head to head, Rafa leads Djokovic: 20-15. Their last match was this year at Roland Garros where Rafa won in 5 sets: 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7.

About this semifinal, Rafa said: "It is not a prolbem for me. I`m happy the way the way that I am playing this week, I`m going to fight for the match tomorrow. I`m excited to play against a very tough opponent, one of the best, the best today. I need to play my best tomorrow if I want to have any chance."

Rafa defeated Jerzy Janowicz of Poland at Rogers Cup in Montreal in straight sets: 7-6, 6-4 after one hour and 49 minutes of play.

After the match against Janowicz, Rafa said: "I was able to play without limitations these two matches, hopefully I can continue like this. That is my goal. I will try to forget this injury with my knee."

In Rogers Cup quarterfinal, Rafa will play against Marinko Matosevic of Australia. On head to head, Rafa leads Matosevic: 1-0. Their only match was this year at Monte-Carlo where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-2.

Rafa won his first match after he was eliminated at Wimbledon. He won in 2nd round in Montreal after he defeated Jesse Levine in straight sets: 6-2, 6-0 after one hour and 12 minutes of play.
