He will have to do a appendix surgery on November 3rd.

We will miss you so much, Rafa. Looking forward to see you back on court in 2015. Get well as soon as possible !

Rafa in Beijing QF
Another victory for Rafa at China Open. He defeated Peter Gojowczyk of Germeny in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4 and he is in quarterfinals.
After the match Rafa said: “I think I made a few mistakes on breakpoints, important mistakes. He has a good serve, so he's able to win free points.”
“It is normal after a period of time without competing, only having one match before, normal that you feel a little bit the nervous, the pressure in that moment, because you need matches to be in rhythm, to be confident in what you do in these moments.”
“I lost a lot of opportunities to have advantage, then the last game was tough.”
"In general I need to improve. It's obvious. My serve worked well today. But in general I need more rhythm on the legs, more rhythm on the shots. I am playing okay, trying to not miss a lot, trying to play with not too many risks. That's what I did today. It's the only way to have matches, only way to have rhythm."
"Coming back in this part of the season is completely different than if I am coming back on clay. I would be able to be in rhythm a little bit faster, a little bit easier... The positive thing is that for another year I'm going to finish in a high position in the ranking, winning a Grand Slam again. I'm going to enjoy the remaining few tournaments. For me this last part of the season obviously is important. Every tournament is important for me. At the same time I want to finish with a better feeling possible to start the new season with good tennis."
no In quarterfinals, Rafa will play against Martin Klizan of Slovakia. On head to head, Rafa leads Klizan: 2-0. Their last match was this year at Wimbledon, where Rafa won in 4 sets: 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

Sad news
Rafa has withdrawn from US Open.
Here it`s his Facebook message : "I am very sorry to announce I won’t be able to play at this year’s US Open a tournament on which I’ve played 3 consecutive finals in my last participations. I am sure you understand that it is a very tough moment for me since it is a tournament I love and where I have great memories from fans, the night matches, so many things… Not much more I can do right now, other than accept the situation and, as always in my case, work hard in order to be able to compete at the highest level once I am back."

Second week
After this victory, Rafa said: "I've finished all the matches [this week] playing better than when I started; that's very positive. I'm very happy to be in the second week again after two years of losing in the first and second round. I had good tactics today; I was fighting for every ball and looking for solutions."
"I think at the beginning he was making no mistakes and was very aggressive. I made a few mistakes on his second serve and a few unforced errors. It took me to a tie-break and I didn’t serve my best, that's what happened. Without serving your best in a tie-break against someone who is playing well, it is impossible."
Ev In 4th Round, Rafa will play against Nick Kyrgios of Australia. Rafa never played Kyrgios before.

Revenge taken !
4 sets needed Rafa to avenge the 2012 match against Rosol. He defeated the Czech player: 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 after 2 hour and 44 minutes of play and reached to 3rd Round.
After the match, Rafa said: "Maybe if I lost that set point in the second set, if that forehand down the line went out, maybe I would be sitting here with a loss. But that's the sport. That forehand was a perfect forehand for that moment. Even if I was losing, I was fighting for every ball. I was fighting mentally, physically."
"Every match is so difficult here. Especially when you play against players that really decide to play every shot at full power. I played a bad game in the 4-4 and I lost the first set. I think until that moment I was playing better than him, but didn't have my chances on the return because he was serving well. I am very happy. It is a very important victory for me. I finished the match playing at a very high level."
In 3rd Round, Rafa will play against Mikhail Kukushkin of Kasakhstan. On head to head, Rafa leads Kukushkin: 2-0. Their last match was in 2012 in Monte-Carlo, where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-1.

Once again... KING AT ROLAND GARROS !!!
History ! Rafa won his 9th title at Roland Garros, his14th Grand Slam title and he remains No.1 in the ATP rankings.
Rafa won the final in 4 sets: 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 against Novak Djokovic of Serbia.
After the final, Rafa said: “It was very important for me to win that second set. Without that second set, I don't know if I would have this trophy with me now."
“Federer has 17 and I have won 14 Grand Slams. Breaking the record, it's not a source of motivation for me. I'll follow my own path. Then when my career is over, we'll count. I don't really care that much about the records. I'll still play with a lot of intensity. I'll still be motivated.
“To me, winning is the result, the equivalent of lots of effort. Therefore, I feel more serene and personally I'm very satisfied.”
After this great performance, Rafa will play at Gerry Weber Open. His first tournament of the year on grass.VAMOS RAFA !!!

Problem? No problem !

After the quarterfinal, Rafa said: "I am rather happy to have been able to turn the situation around. I managed to pull through. Even though it was complicated, I managed to find solutions during the second set."
"The first set was mentally tough. I decided to go more inside to return in the second set, and I decided to play many more times with my forehand. When I did, I think the dynamic of the match changed."
In Roland Garros semfinals, Rafa will play against Andy Murray. On head to head, Rafa leads Murray: 14-5. Their last match was this year in Rome, where Rafa won in 3 sets: 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

No mercy
Easy match for Rafa in 4th Round at Roland Garros: 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 against Dusan Lajovic of Serbia after one hour and 32 minutes.
Rafa said: "I think that I am playing a little bit better than when I was playing against him in Monte-Carlo, but I think he's playing great, too. He played three weeks in a row at a very high level. In Madrid he played great, in Rome he played great, and he's playing great here."
"He's coming to the match with confidence and with confidence that he beat me the last time. It will be a tough one. I know how to play against him and to have chances to win I need to play very well. That's what I'm going to try. If not, it will be impossible."
"I'm happy with the way that I played. Sure, you never know what's better, but in theory, it's better to win like this than to win longer matches. But you never know what's the best thing for [the rest of the tournament]. I'm happy to be in the quarter-finals. It's a positive result for me."
In Roland Garros quaterfinals, Rafa will play against David Ferrer of Spain. On head to head, Rafa leads Ferrer: 21-6. Their last match was this year in Monaco, where Ferrer won in straight sets.

After the match, Rafa said: "I won this round, but it was a bit difficult because of the weather, but it was very important for me, because it gave me the opportunity of having two days' break so that I can practise. That's always positive. When you win, you're always happy. Of course, as always, I had ups and downs, and I could have played being a bit more aggressive."

Masterpiece
No problem for Rafa in semifinals at Internazionali BNL d`Italia. He defeated Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 after only one hour and 22 minutes.
After the semifinal, Rafa said: "I think I started the match in a perfect way, in the second set he made more mistakes than usual. But, talking about myself, I played a solid match and was very good with my backhand. Yesterday I played a great match and today was a good confirmation that I play better, that the forehand starts to fly again, the top spins as well. A lot of positive things."
In Rome final, Rafa will play against Novak Djokovic of Serbia. About this match, Rafa said: "Djokovic always plays unbelievable, he’s a complete player and has all the shots. If I want to have chances to win I have to play my best tennis, be aggressive. It will be a very tough match. That’s the only way. I have to be ready for the competition."
On head to head, Rafa leads Djokovic: 22-18, but the last match was won by Djokovic this year in Miami final.
