Rafa won the final against Nicolas Almagro at Barcelona Open in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3 and managed to defend his title.

This is the eighth Barcelona title in nine years. Congratulations, Rafa !

After the final, Rafa said: "I feel very happy to lift the trophy once again here in Barcelona. It means a lot especially after the difficult year I`ve had. The conditions were very difficult today, especially in the first six games as it was raining a lot."

After this great performance, the next tournament for Rafa will be Mutua Madrid Open.

Rafa into Barcelona Open final

After he defeated Benoit Paire, Rafa made another step forward and he won the match against Milos Raonic. Rafa defeated the canadian in straight sets: 6-4 6-0 after one hour and 12 minutes.

After the match against Raonic, Rafa said: "I think it was my best match of the whole week. Almagro is playing great and having a fantastic week. Tomorrow will be the most difficult match of the week. Hopefully I can play my best match and take my chances".

After those two victories, Rafa is ready to defend his title against Nicolas Almagro of Spain. Nadal is undefeated against Almagro. They played nine matches and the score is 9-0 for Rafa. Their last match was this year in Acapulco, where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-5, 6-4

Rafa defeated Carlos Berlocq of Argentina at Barcelona Open in straight sets: 6-4, 6-2 and reached to 3rd round.

In 3rd round, Rafa will play against Benoit Paire of France. This will be the first match between them.

Rafa lost the final at Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters in straight sets: 6-2, 7-6 after he won 8 consecutive titles here. Well done, Rafa ! We are all proud of you !

Even if he lost, Rafa should move on and we will see him in Barcelona where he will defend the title that he won last year. In 2012, Rafa defeated David Ferrer in Barcelona Open final in straight sets: 7-6. 7-5.

Rafa had a tough match in quarters at Monte Carlo Rolex Masters against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria but he managed to win in 3 sets: 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 after 2 hours and 8 minutes.

After this important victory, Rafa is in semifinals where he will play against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France. On head to head, Rafa leads Tsonga: 7-3. Their last match was last year in Miami, where Nadal won in 3 sets: 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Monte Carlo Quarters

Another victory for Rafa at Monte Carlo Rolex Masters. He defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in straight sets: 6-2, 6-4 after one hour and 20 minutes and reached to quarterfinals in Monaco.

After the match Rafa said: " I feel more relaxed, yes. I had some uneasy moments during the past year. Now I`m back on the tour. Just being here is good news. And winning matches, I say every day, but winning every  match is very important to me today. Every time I have a chance to go on court and play well, feel competitive is a really good feeling."

In quarters, Rafa will play against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. On head to head, Rafa leads Dimitrov: 1-0. The only match between them was 4 years ago, in 2009 in Rotterdam. Rafa won in 3 sets: 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.

Rafa won his 43rd match at Monte Carlo Rolex Masters in 2nd round. He defeated Marinko Matosevic of Australia in straight sets: 6-1, 6-2 after one hour and 5 minutes.

Easy match for Nadal (he won the first set after only 24 minutes) who wants to win his 9th consecutive title here !

In 3rd round, Rafa will play against Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany. On head to head, Rafa leads Kohlschreiber: 8-1. Their last match was in 2012 in Halle, where Rafa lost against the german player in straight sets: 3-6, 4-6.
