4th Round in Melbourne

Rafa had no problem in 3rd Round against Dudi Sela of Israel. He managed to win the match in straight sets: 6-1, 6-0, 7-5 after 2 hours and 8 minutes.

After the match, Rafa said: "I was happy the way I was physically on court tonight. Obviously, happy with the way I played the first two sets. Then in the third, I made more mistakes. It's normal to play every day with a little bit more ups and downs when you are out for a while."

“My serve worked well on the break points. I had one lucky break the net cord with my forehand. But the rest of the points I played with determination, going to the net, having some good serves. [In] the last game, I am happy the way that I lost the first match point trying to go for the winner with my forehand. I played with the right determination in the right moments. That gives me confidence and a way of how to play for the future.”

In 4th Round, Rafa will play against Kevin Anderson of South Africa. On head to head, Rafa leads: 1-0. Their only match was in 2010 in Toronto, where Rafa won in straight sets:  6-2, 7-6.

Rafa - One true gladiator

Rafa was tested hard by Tim Smyczek of United States in Melbourne. Rafa won the match in 5 sets: 6-2, 3-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5.

After this long and tough match, Rafa said: "The weather was different today than the past couple of weeks. It was very humid. I should not be that tired after 40 minutes. I feel lucky to have the chance to finish the match, and then to find a way to win.

"At the end of the first set, I start to feel my body was very bad, very tired. I was worrying like crazy. Then, when I was serving for the third, I almost throw up. I suffered too much on court for three hours and a half. I was suffering a lot."

Also, I have to say that Smyczek was a gentleman when he asked the chair umpire to give Rafa the first serve after someone yelled when Rafa served. Respect, Tim !

In 3rd Round, Rafa will play against Dudi Sela of Israel. Rafa never played Sela before.

No problem in 1st Round

Rafa made his way to 2nd Roudn in melbourne after he defeated Mikhail Youznhy in straight sets: 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 50 minutes of play.

After the match, Rafa said:  “It was a very positive result for me, I think a very good start,” said Nadal, who is competing at his second tournament since appendix surgery in November. “My return worked really well. The serve, too. In general, I played with not many mistakes.”

In 2nd Round, Rafa will play against Tim Smyczek of United States. Rafa never played Smyczek before.

Or with another words keep calm and support Rafa. He lost in semifinals in Abu Dhabi against Andy Murray: 6-2, 6-0 at his first official match after the 2014 surgery.

Don`t worry he lost in a friendly tournament. Keep supporting Rafa no matter what !

In Rafa`s schedule the next tournament is Qatar ExxonMobil wich begins on January 5.
