Rafa withdrew from Miami

Rafa said on his Facebook page: "So sorry for my fans, those here at Miami and those around the world. My knee won`t let me play today." 

We all hope that we will see Rafa at Monte Carlo Rolex Masters. The tournament begins on 15th of April. Get well as soon as possible !!!

Rafa reached to semifinals at Sony Ericsson Open in Miami after he defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in 3 sets: 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 after a long match: 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Strong performance for Rafa who is in semifinals where he will play against Andy Murray of great Britain. The overall score between them is 13-5 for Rafa. Last match between Rafa and Murray was last year in Tokyo where Murray won in 3 sets.

Last year Rafa deefated Nishikori in Miami in straight sets: 6-4, 6-4. The same score was this year and after 2 hours and 10 minutes Rafa is in quarters at Sony Ericsson Open, Miami.

In quarterfinals, Rafa will play either Florian Mayer of Germany or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.

No problem for Rafa in 3rd Round at Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. He defeated Radek Stepanek in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2. in 1 hour and 27 minutes.

In 4th Round, Rafa will play against Kei Nishikori of Japan. The overall score between them is 3-0 for Rafa. The last match was last year here in Miami and Rafa won in straight sets: 6-4, 6-4.

Rafa won his 2nd Round match against Santiago Giraldo of Colombia in straight sets: 6-2, 6-0 after only 1 hour and 9 minutes.

In 3rd Round, Rafa will play against Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic. The overall score is 5-0 for Nadal. Their last match was in 2011 at Queens in London where Rafa won in 3 sets: 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

Rafa is seeded No. 2 at Sony Ericsson Open in Miami and has a `bye` in first round. In second round Rafa will play against Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.

Rafa leads Giraldo 4-0 and their last match was last year in Tokyo when Rafa won in straight sets: 7-6, 6-3.

As you probably know Rafa lost in semifinals against Federer: 6-3, 6-4. So, it is one step back than 2011 when Rafa played the final.

Next stop is Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Tough day in Indian Wells

Tough day for Rafa at Indian Wells against David Nalbandian. The argentinian caused a lot of trouble and Rafa lost in this quarterfinal the first set at BNP Paribas Open, 4-6 with 15 unforced errors and only 6 winners.

The situation in the second set was better bu not extraordinary, with 14 unforced errors and 12 winners, Rafa manged to win the second set, 7-5.
The last set was a little bit easier, but definitely it was not Rafa`s day. He won in 3 sets: 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

In semifinal, Rafa must play more than better to win the match because he will play against Roger Federer.
The overall score between Rafa and Federer is 18-9 for Rafa. The last match between them was this year at Australian Open semifinal when Rafa won in 4 sets: 6-7, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4.

Another step forward

Rafa reached to quarterfinals at BNP Paribas Open after he won his 4th round match against Alexandr Dolgopolov: 6-3, 6-2.
Even if Rafa won the match, Dolgopolov played well and he had more "winners" than Nadal: 19-12.

The match was won by Rafa at the "Unforced errors" chapter, where Rafa had only 7 and Dolgopolov 33.
The percentage at 1st serve could be better, Rafa had only 65% and a 50% at break points.

So, another match won in straight sets after only 1 hour and 16 minutes.

In quarters, Rafa will play against David Nalbandian of Argentina. The overall score between them is 4-2 for Rafa, but Nadal won the last 4 matches. The last match was at US Open in 2011, when Rafa won in 3 sets: 7-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Marching to last 16

Rafa won in straight sets his 3rd round match against Marcel Granollers of Spain: 6-1, 6-4 and he is now in 4th round in Indian Wells for the 7th year succesive.

Rafa played well and there were no problems in the first set. In second set Granollers showed some atitude but also Rafa made some unforced errors, but the match was overall well played by the No. 2.

In 4th round, Rafa will play against Alexandr Dolgopolov. The overall score between Rafa and Dolgopolov is 2-0 for Rafa. Last match was in 2011 at ATP World Tour Masters Miami in the same round where Rafa won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-2.

No problem in 2nd Round for Rafa at Indian Wells where he played against Leonardo Mayer. Rafa defeated the Argentine player in straight sets: 6-1 6-3 .

In 3rd Round, Rafa will play against Marcel Granollers of Spain. This will be the first match between them.
