After Brasil Open final, Rafa defeated Martin Alund of Argentina in straight sets: 6-0, 6-4 after one hour and  16 minutes and he reached to quarterfinals in Mexico.

In quarters, Rafa will play against another argentinian player, Leonardo Mayer. On head to head, Rafa leads Mayer: 1-0. The only match between them was last year in Indian Wells. Leonardo Mayer is No. 77.

Rafa won the first round match at Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 against Diego Sebastian Schwartzman after one hour and 8 minutes.

After the victory against Schwartzman, Rafa is in 2nd round where he will play against Martin Alund of Argentina. Rafa defeated Alund this year in Brasil Open final: 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. That was the only match between them .

The king of clay is back ! Rafa defeated David Nalbandian of Argentina in Brasil Open final in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3 after one hour and 18 minutes and he is the new champion in Sao Paulo ! Congratulations, Rafa !!!!

This is the 37th tournament on clay that Rafa won !

The next tournament for Rafa is in Acapulco, Mexico. The tournament begins on February 25.

Another 3 sets match for Rafa at Brasil Open 2013. He defeated Martin Alund of Argentina: 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 after one hour and 56 minutes and reached to the final. This is his second final of the year after Vina del Mar.

Rafa passed Joao Souza of Brazil in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4 after one hour and 18 minutes and reached to quarterfinals in Brazil.

In quarters, Rafa will play against Carlos Berlocq of Argentina. This will be the first match between them.

After Vina del Mar which was the first tournament of 2013 for Rafa the next step is in Brazil. Rafa will play at Brasil Open 2013 and has a `bye` in first round.

In second round, Rafa will play either Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain or a qualifier.

Unfortunately Rafa lost the final against Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in 3 sets: 7-6, 6-7, 4-6 after 2 hours and 46 minutes.

If the match was last year definitely it was a different situation. Obviously Rafa is not 100% recovered but I`m glad that he`s back in business.

The next tournament for Rafa is Brasil Open. The tournament starts on February 11.

Rafa reached Vina del Mar final

Nadal is in Vina del Mar final after he defeated Jeremy Chardy of France in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 5 minutes.

After this good match, Rafa will play the VTR Open final against Horacio Zeballos of Argentina. The overall score between Rafa and Zeballos is 1-0 for Rafa. The only match between them was last year at Roland Garros, where Rafa won in 3 sets: 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.

Another victory for Rafa in Chile. He defeated Danie Gimeno-Traver of Spain in straight sets: 6-1, 6-4 after one hour and 24 minutes.

After this important victory, Rafa reached to semifinals at VTR Open where he will play either Jeremy Chardy of France or Paolo Lorenzi of Italy.

Rafa won the match against Federico Delbonis of Argentina in straight sets: 6-3, 6-2 and it is a great feeling to see him back on the court ! :)

After this victory, Rafa is in quarterfinals at Vina del Mar Open where he will play either Daniel Gimeno Traver or Albert Montanes.


UPDATE: Rafael Nadal vs Daniel Gimeno-Traver. On head to head the score is 1-0 for Rafa. Their only match was in 2011 in Barcelona: 6-1, 6-1.

So, as you probably know Rafa will play in Chile at Vina del Mar. He is seeded No.1 and he has a `bye` in first round.

In second round, Rafa will play either Federico Delbonis or Guido Pella of Argentina.


UPDATE: Rafael Nadal vs Federico Delbonis. Rafa never played against Delbonis before. The argentinian player is No. 128 in ATP rankings. 

By the way, Rafa won his first match since June last year. Rafa played with Juan Monaco in doubles and they won against the Czech pair, Dlouhy/Cermak.
